The Area

San Giusto is equidistant from Florence, Siena, and Pisa, all within easy reach (about 30 miles), and closer still to both San Gimignano, and the Etruscan town of Volterra (about 15 miles). The Tyrrhenian seacoast, to the west, can be reached in about an hour’s drive.

The historically minded may be interested to know that the via Francigena, the pilgrim route from Northern Europe to Rome from the early Middle Ages through to the Renaissance, passed nearby. In another direction, the old Franciscan monastery of San Vivaldo offers a re-creation of the holy places of Jerusalem, embodied in a series of chapels, adorned with terra cotta statues.

The nearest town for shopping, Montaione, is about 4 miles away, and within that same distance there are several characteristic restaurants. In the area there are numerous activities for summer guests, such as personalized tours, bike rentals, cooking lessons, tennis, horseback riding, balloon panoramic flights. Two beautiful recently remodeled golf courses (18 fairways and 9 fairways) are 7 miles away, at Castelfalfi.
